JUSTIFICATION

Love is no suit, to be fitted, folded, or pinned.
Love has no sleeves, tucks, or trousers in need of a trim.
Love can't be adjusted with tape measure, needle, or thread.
Love's a lovely pastiche, and so there is no need to dread
That love -- most abundant whole cloth in the known universe --
Could -- when it is true -- prove in any way slightly perverse.
If one loves one with whom one can be tender -- so be it!
If one loves another of one's own gender -- so be it!
If one loves many with passion and fire -- so be it!
If one loves one other with muted desire -- so be it!
To justify love -- simply love, without stint or requital.
To justify love -- just attend to this little recital!
